Hey Dom, Welcome to team WAW! For the guys at home, what is your full name?
Hello! My name is Dominick Nicholas
Where is home for you?
Home is Oahu, Hawaii
If you had to choose, What is your bodysurfing handplane of choice?
My handplane of choice is the WAW BadFish. I Love how it's made and enjoy how comfortable it feels in the water.
Why is it that you bodysurf? And what is it about bodysurfing that you love?
I bodysurf because its something that bonds me closer to the elements and the true power of mother nature. It inspires me to take a break from technology and enjoy something I can truly feel. I also body surf because it has greatly impacted my health and keeps me in the best shape of my life. Through bodysurfing, ive met a lot of people with passion and appreciation for the ocean and I totally get it.
If you were to pick your favorite kind of wave what would it be?
My wave of choice would be a steep, fast, hollow Right. A longer ride to bust out some spins & heavy shorebreak is always fun too.
Any tips for folks just starting out at bodysurfing?
My best tip for someone looking to get into bodysurfing is to get your breathing technique down and most importantly respect the ocean. There's Nothing worse than panicking. Remain humble and zen.
For someone looking to get into bodysurfing, I would recommend starting off with a good pair of swim fins and a Miniboog. Once you learn how the wave breaks and which direction to go, try it with just your body or with a sweet WAW Handplane. It’ll make sense then.
